About the event

A moving new exhibition, Weaving an Axis of Resilience, showcasing the work of Gazan artist and mother Manar Amra, will open at The Margate School of Art on 13th December 2025. Curated by Elina Margot, and brought to life with Franca Pauli and a team of local artisans. The exhibition brings together Manar’s designs and words as a powerful testament to resilience and resistance through art, and collective care.


For more than two years, 27 year old Manar has survived against all odds, incarcerated under blockade in Gaza alongside her husband and two small

daughters. Before October 2023 Manar was a graduate who worked in a laboratory, but the bombardment claimed her home, her work, and many of her loved ones, leaving the future for herself and her family perilously uncertain.
