About the Event

This photographic process was made popular by Anna Atkins, the first female photographer who published the first photobook in 1849. In this workshop led by Kim Conway, you will learn a brief history of the process, look at examples of contemporary artists currently working with cyanotype and discuss the materials you need to get started. You will be shown how to mix the chemicals, coat your paper and once dry how to expose your images using both daylight and UV lights.

You will have plenty of opportunity to experiment and we will look at different ways to create images.

All materials will be provided. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own objects with them on the day.

This workshop will be 3 hours long, and will take place in The Margate School and outside along Margate’s coastline and beach. Please dress warmly, wear comfortable shoes and bring a waterproof…
