Suited for both beginners and experienced users, this series of 2-hour long evening  classes will look at everything involved in creating a photograph, from capture to output.  Using clear to understand language, all sessions are fully illustrated with graphics, photographs, and  prints accompanied by all relevant information.

For beginners, these sessions explain how both analogue and digital equipment and their respective  technologies work allowing them to make better use of their equipment.

For the experienced image makers, the sessions provide a full in depth understanding regarding  the workings of both `` allowing informed decisions to be made  when challenging technical and conceptual conventions expanding their creative possibilities.

A photograph, at its most basic level, is a two-dimensional visual representation of something three  dimensional. But, in addition to this objectivity, photography also has a subjective dimension.  It is this subjectivity that provokes thinking, invites viewers to consider what it means to look at what  they are looking at, and to wonder what could have been the reasons for that photograph to be  created.

When looked from this perspective, Photography can also be understood as a language.  All topics will be approached both from a technical and a creative/subjective perspective.  Technically, both digital and analogue photographic process will be looked at, each part of the  process explained, the differences between the various types of equipment and their respective  advantages/disadvantages looked at.

From a creative point of view, we will discuss the impact technical choices have in the final meaning  of an image, the use of technique as a creative tool rather than a strict technical parameter, and the  relationship between photography and contemporary culture.

Essentially, we will look at photography as a language.
