PROGRAMME
1 'The Urban Green Idea' - Karen Jones University of Kent
Karen is Professor of Environmental and Cultural History and among her many publications is 'The invention of the Park'. A current research interest is 'health, space and wellbeing' for the Wellcome Trust.
2 'Biodiversity – Global to Local' - Dr Clive Nuttman
Clive has his own educational consultancy : 'Biology Matters' and has in a long career researched from rainforests to deserts. He is particularly keen on addressing the 'nature deficit' in schools and is a trustee at Monkton Nature Reserve.
3 'Verges – nothing to be wasted' - Dr Hannah Scott
Hannah is a post-doctoral researcher at CCCU who will speak on the 'cyclic economy' : 'Can roadside grasses be harvested for compost, energy creation and even furniture ?' And as 'Dr Forager will outline the 'edible coastline.'
4 'Kent's Trees & Ponds – All in a Year's Work' - David Carey
David is Chair of the Kent Trees & Ponds Wardens' with a definite concern for Thanet's lack of 'canopy'. A Cambridge graduate in natural sciences who enjoyed an extensive career at Hadlow College.
5 'Life and enthusiasms as an Environmental Sculptor' - Anthony Heywood
Anthony has taught sculpture all over Kent and beyond for 30 years and has an international reputation for creating community artworks with a humanitarian message not least for the 2012 Olympics.
