About the Event
A collection of exhibitions curated by POW at The Margate School, based on the theme of Reclaim and Reconnect.Â
ADONIS
ADONIS is an exhibition aiming to reclaim the art space and reverse the gaze - an opportunity for the objects of male voyeurism to become the voyeurs. The exhibition consists of exclusively women & trans artists depicting the male nude. Where male artists are usually the ones depicting naked and / or sexualised women and queer folk, the goal of ADONIS is to switch this role and the power of the gaze
To go alongside the POW! Thanet ADONIS exhibition taking place at The Margate School on the 4th-8th of March, curator Mary-Ann Stuart is hosting a life drawing session at Margate Arts Club for women, non-binary and AFAB people to take part in and draw the male form from life. A loose, light-hearted and fun session for people of all abilities, from complete beginners to
professionals. This is in no way a serious or formal art lesson, but a relaxed session to have fun and explore.
BRING YOUR OWN MATERIALS - There are no easels or drawing boards so a hard-back sketchbook is recommended
18+ only
SILVER SISTERS

Female Body Casting by artist Lyda Reeves (on until Sunday 6th March)
Female Body Casting Artist Lydia Reeves will be showcasing her beautiful, diverse body casts. This mini exhibition will consist of a range of boob and vulva casts that Lydia has made over the last 2 years. If you bring headphones you will also be able to listen to a playlist which includes 200 stories from people about their relationships with their vulvas.
