Dr Kristin Fredricksson
History & Philosophy of Art and French Tutor
Kristin has been making and teaching performance in many contexts and countries since 1994, with a first degree in Philosophy and History of Art from Cambridge University, followed by a PhD (Royal Holloway London) that straddled touch, object play, Feldenkrais Method and vibrant materialism. She trained in theatre with Jacques Lecoq in Paris in the 90s, including the Bauhaus-inspired scenography course, Laboratory of Movement Study (L.E.M.). She has been a Feldenkrais Method somatic education practitioner since 2005.
Her performance work has been shown at the Barbican London, Ruhrfestspiele (Germany), La Nef and Espace Périphérique (Paris), Het Veem (Netherlands), Mayfest Bristol and many other venues and festivals. She has won a Total Theatre Award and the Arches Brick (Glasgow). In July 2022, she was artist in residence at Verpėjos, Lithuania, tending a flock of sheep and beginning new work. She has also had residencies at The Point Eastleigh, 101 Outdoor Arts and Farnham Maltings amongst others. Her current artistic and research interests are in ecological bodies, permaculture and transition arts practices and borders and frontiers. She is an improvisor with the experimental groups, Free Range Orchestra and Free Women.
