Dr Lucy Lyons
Mémoire and Drawing Tutor
Dr Lucy Lyons uses drawing in the expanded field as intervention into different disciplines, researching how the activity of drawing leads to better understanding through “slow looking.” She draws the overlooked, the unfamiliar and shocking, using drawing to see through the surface to appreciate the detail and gain greater insight into medical phenomena.
She is lead Tutor for SSC Anatomy and Art, MBBS, UCL Medical School and lecturer in Drawing and in Mémoire (Contextual Studies) on the Fine Art MA Art/Society/Nature at The Margate School (ESADHaR). She is a lecturer on the PhD course ‘Anatomies: Learning to think critically about representations of the medical body’ at University of Copenhagen and lead tutor for SSC Anatomical art, MBBS, QMUL School of Medicine and Dentistry.
She is a member of the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain and of the Institute of Anatomical Science.
