On Satruday 9 September 2023, a cohort of students from The Margate School attended their graduation ceremony at Turner Contemporary.

The day began with a procession from the School, along Margate's seafront and into Turner Contemporary where students, family members and friends congregated for the official ceremony.

The Mayor of Margate, Cllr Rob Yates, opened the ceremony with praise for the work at TMS, followed by Uwe Derksen, director of TMS, who likened the good at TMS to the forceful transpiration of water through a tree's roots to it's leaves. World-renowned expressionist painter Shem spoke of the importance of pushing through and cherishing the outcome, whilst Professor Gillian Youngs, a member of the TMS Advisory Group, stressed the importance of belief in ourselves and our dreams to succeed.

The certificates were presented the students by Shem and Professor Gillian Youngs.
