Thanet Schools Young Artist's Festival 2020
The Margate School is pleased to host this year's annual Thanet Schools Young Artist's Festival. This is the 11th year of a growing annual art's event organised by the Margate Rotary Club with the support of many volunteers as well as The Margate School and with over 40 local schools participating reaching around 20,000 pupils. Due to Covid-19 Epidemic this year the work will be presented as a digital archive, and winners are to be selected by the 16th July and showcased in The TMS Cloud Gallery. Please enjoy exploring the work of this year's amazing entries below. In addition we are working on a way to show the work physically in The Margate School exhibition spaces later on this year.
Margates Rotary Club founded the festival in 2010 following an article in a Rotary magazine, and continues to run it to this day. The aim was simple, to give the school children of Thanet a platform to show their artistic skills to the general public, at no cost to the schools except in school time. Initially only six schools responded out of fifty four in Thanet. However from 2016 to the present the annual exhibition has been held at Sainsbury's Superstore Westwood Cross Foyer, has grown to 49 out of 54 schools and colleges in Thanet taking part and last year saw almost 40000 visitors across the week.
The Rotary Club of Margate was founded in 1921 and is the oldest club in District 1120 which has 80 clubs covering Kent, East Sussex and parts of London.
Due to Covid restrictions, the planned exhibition will not be able to take place in the Sainsburys at Westwood cross, but will now be presented between the 24—27th September 2020 in the Primark building on the Margate High Street.
Thursday/Friday 3.00pm-6.00pm
Saturday/Sunday 1.00pm-4.00pm.
