Photographic paper and chemicals are included but participants should bring their own processed black and white film (35mm or 6x6).

Brush up on your darkroom skills on this one day course in black and white photographic printing, learning how to get the most from your image.

Looking at each image, you will work on one or two photographs exploring various ways to adjust and improve your images in the printing process. You will gain experience and confidence in the printing process working in our fully equipped darkroom. 

You should bring with you a processed black and white film.

The course will cover

  • The negative and correct exposure
  • Printing basics - contact prints, test strips and exposure
  • Adjusting contrast using coloured filters
  • Dodging and burning
  • Pre-flashing your paper
  • Printing and processing fibre-based paper
  • Assessing your prints
