Poster making with Rebecca Strickson
Thank you to @rebecca_strickson_illustration for her poster making workshop with students as part of the Visual Communication Identity module.
Students wrote a statement about what identity means to them - how they understood the word and the connotations it has. As part of this workshop, students translated their ideas of identity into a poster only using words.
Inspired by the traditional imagery of trade union banners and protest placards, Rebecca Strickson’s work explores the power of community and collaboration. Using eye-popping, psychedelic palettes, bold and busy compositions, and fragments of typography, Strickson’s aesthetic harks back to the 1960s, the golden age of civil unrest and positive change.
Strickson has been shortlisted twice for the Association of Illustrators award and since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2002, she has worked with a number of high-profile clients including @royalmailofficial@coaldropsyard@sony@channel4@southbankcentre@barbicancentre@artsy.
🌱Visual Communication: Design, Society, Nature is currently open to applications for the next academic year.
