Thanet Photographers Exhibition at The Margate School

This week is the second week of the Thanet Photographers Facebook group exhibition at The Margate School: a group headed by Kent Photographer of the Year, Frank Leppard.

Isabelle de Ridder who has organised the exhibition has a love for promoting the concept of Collectives. In the current context of difficult economics, Isabelle thought the way forward is to organise shared exhibitions. In 2020, having put forward the concept to Frank and then Uwe Derksen at The Margate School, Thanet Photographers originally exhibited, briefly, at the old Primark building on Margate’s High Street until full lockdown was imposed in December of that year.

Since then, Isabelle has been keen to reorganise dates to showcase the work of many talented local photographers, and The Margate School and Thanet Photographers are delighted to showcase what this group does in its current exhibition.

In the gallery today, Isabelle, who only uses her phone to make photographs, Alyson Hunter, a seasoned artist whose work has been exhibited in London and abroad, and the delightful Elly Hegarty, who specialises in photographing miniature figures and posing them in a local landscape environment. Elly also produces printed Tote bags, mugs and key-rings.

Thanet Photographers exhibition opens daily at The Margate School from 11am to 4pm, and closes on Tuesday 5th December 2023.
