On this 6-week Visual Communication Design Course, you'll explore Image making using a range of mediums and techniques allowing you to develop your portfolio. 

The Visual Communication Design : Design Society Nature course enables students to develop their design knowledge and technical skills while also developing a critical and socially engaged design practice, where people and the planet come first.

We have introduced the opportunity to study modules as short courses, including this Image module.

The course includes:

• An analogue black and white photography workshop followed by a dark room induction where you'll print a selection of your image, led by Visual Artist and photographer Dominic Rose
• Exploration of the history and practice of mixed-media collage as an exciting medium which allows experimentation with juxtaposition, colour, composition to create meaning and narratives with found images, led by Designer and Tutor, Rachel Kirk
• Investigation into the practice of data visualisation and information design with Designer and Tutor Rachel Kirk
• A search of the historical context of image making and the art of the poster with Design Historian Paul Rennie
• Access to the School's design studio and a number of specialist facilities throughout the course, 7 days a week
• A specialist guest lecture at the end of the course (tbc). Past guest lecturers have included David Shillinglaw, Jim Sutherland and Jazz Grant

Visual Communication Design : Design Society Nature is a one-year, part-time programme exploring the fundamental principles of visual communication. Design Society Nature is unique in its collaborative and hands-on approach to design education. The course aims to instil independent thinking and creative confidence by developing critically minded designers who are socially and environmentally engaged.
